10 Adorable Animal Friendships
Did you know that animals make friends too? Whether in the wild, at zoos, or as pets, animals - furry, feathered, and scaled - have surprised people the world over by making best friends with each other. This week we take a look at some of these unlikely friendships, in an inspiring selection that is sure to melt your heart!
1. Fred and Dennis. Dennis the duckling was very lucky when he was rescued by Fred the Labrador and his owner - Fred was already known for his warmth and generosity after adopting a baby deer too! Dennis immediately became part of the family and the two have been best buddies ever since.
2. Marmoset and Green Iguana. These two became great friends after being placed in the same enclosure at Krefeld Zoo in Germany. The marmoset monkey treats the iguana just like another monkey - kissing and hugging him!
3. Themba and Albert. When Themba the elephant was taken in by Shamwari Game Reserve, he had no family of his own. The team at the reserve introduced him to Albert the sheep, who lived on a nearby farm, and the two have been inseparable ever since.
4. Bea and Wilma. Bea the giraffe and Wilma the ostrich live at Busch Gardens in the U.S., sharing a huge 65-acre space together and enjoying just being with each other.
5. Cat and Fox. Photographed by fishermen in Turkey, we don't know too much about this unlikely pairing - but the two have been seen playing and spending time together just as best friends do.
6. Bubbles and Bella. After being rescued from poachers in Africa, Bubbles the elephant found more than a new home at a safari reserve in the U.S - she also made a new best friend in Bella the black Labrador!
7. Shere Khan, Baloo and Leo. After a hard life with a neglectful owner, these three have remained the best of friends at their new home at Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary in the U.S.
8. Mabel and Puppies. Mabel the hen moved into her owners home after suffering from a foot injury. She decided the young pups were her own and keeps them warm like a mother hen does her eggs!
9. Rabbit and Deer. Photographed by professional photographer Tanja Askani, these two were seen in the wild playing together. How cute is that!
10. Anjana and Tiger Cubs. Anjana the chimpanzee has lots of experience helping to raise orphaned animals, so these tiger cubs found a new best friend when they arrived at an animal reserve in the U.S.!Sources:
